What can you expect?
Coming in from out of town?
tl;dr The pool is not accessible by public transit. No matter where you stay, you'll need wheels. That said, you'll find the Bay area has a robust public transit network and you can get just about anywhere else via train, light rail, and bus. We recommend staying in the following areas:
Oakland/Alameda/Emeryville/Berkeley: Fun, funky neighborhoods. Great options for car rentals!
Walnut Creek/Concord: Suburban with a range of options and close to the pool. You can probably pull off ride shares, but wheels will give you more range.
San Francisco: Soma/Castro/Downtown/Mission Bay are great for nightlife *and* bridge access. Rentals recommended, but you can make it work by taking BART to Lafayette station and hailing a ride share.
